Hi Alois,

How to put a lot of backspin on the short push. When my coach was watching me I was returning a short backspin serve with a short push (by just touching the ball). He said that I am not putting enough backspin on the ball. I tried to put more spin but it went off the table. How to put more backspin on the short push?

Hi Nasko,

Just try adjusting the angle of your bat.  Have it flatter to the surface of the table.  This will mean you are contacting more under the ball and so should be able to generate more spin.

You can also use your wrist a little to bring it through faster and get the ball spinning more if you start to feel comfortable with the new angle of your bat.
