What are the techniques to play against a player who uses short pimples?  what can I do? Must I put some spin on the ball? must I attack normally?     I wait for your answer, thanks.

Hi Lucca,

It is best to put spin on the ball.  Either backspin or topspin is best.  The short pimple player usually likes the ball coming flat and fast.

Hi Alois. A recent match against a player with short pimples on the backhand and inverted rubber on the forehand was that he played as a defensive chopper from his backhand most of the time. What should be my response? Topspin back always? Do l engage in a backspin pushing duel? Mix it up? i.e. In a rally topspin then backspin or always topspin? What is your advice please. I have watched your video on playing people with short pimples.

Hi Doug,

Against a short pimple chopper I would play with topspin all the time.  The short pimple doesn't have the same effect as the long pimples which reverses the spin and makes it easiest to push and then topspin.
