Short pimples

Hi Sir Alois... Does short pimples are meant to be for choppers or defenders?? what is the difference between short pimples and medium pimples? are they the same in purpose? thanks in advance.  :)

Hi Alex,

Short pimples are usually used by close to the table attackers.  They flatten out the spin but don't reverse the spin.  So if the ball comes in with topspin, the short pimple when hit sharply will send the ball back with less topspin.

On the other hand, the medium pimples will reverse the spin on the ball.  So if the ball comes in with topspin, it will go out with backspin.
