I only have 2 sponge bats that produce a good amount of spin. I’m curious to see how spins works with a short pimple bat. My forehand topspins always goes into the nets when I try to use a sort of spin. How do I produce spin on a short pimples bat like sponge bat?

Hi Jason,

Short pimples doesn't generate as much spin as an inverted rubber.

If you are wanting more spin then stay with the inverted rubber.

You can still do similar strokes with the short pips but just don't expect the same amount of spin.  You also will need to open up the angle of your bat a little more to get the ball to lift over the net.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
