Hi Alois

In your receiving secrets DVD, I see you make a very effective short push and fast long push.

Can you give me some idea of how to do that in detail? Most of the time that I push, it's just a normal push. It will not be short, and it will not be long and fast when I want it to be.

Please help

Thank you

Hi Ittipat,

The key to a short push is to have a relaxed hand and little forward movement.  Use the momentum of the ball to take it back onto the table.  All you need to provide is the correct bat angle to get it back short.

For a long fast push again keep the hand relaxed and on contact push your fingers and hand through.  It doesn't take a lot of effort just a short sharp movement.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
