Serving to lefties

Hi coach

I was just wondering what adjustments you normally make when serving to lefties.  For example, should you serve predominantly down the line (to the left hander's backhand)?

Cheers

Hi Ji-Soo,

Being a lefty myself it is a little different.

I think for a right hander serving to a left hander all the same principles apply.  You need to see which side they have more touch with.  You also need to see whether they like th ball going away from them or coming into them with the sidespin.

Talking from a personal level I like the ball on my forehand side but other left handers may have better touch on the backhand.

For those of you who haven't read it yet, yake  alook at the Blog on the World Championships by Ji-Soo. It is a very interesting read from a spectators perspective.

#26 - Serving with Placement

Just by placing your serve better, you'll be able to win more points. Think about what happens when a good server plays you. What positions do they serve to that you find difficult. Try serving to similar positions yourself. We give you plenty of time to practice serving with placement in this week's training session.

Haha, this is weird because i was just thinking about this, my friend is a leftie and im a rightie but his backhand is kinda weak so i always serve down the left line.
