Hey Alois,

Im a complete beginner to Table Tennis, I think your tutorials are great but I am unsure if the ball has to go diagonally across when you serve the ball because in your videos sometimes its doesn't go diagonnaly across but my PE teacher says it has to go diagonally.

 Many Thanks,

Faisal

Hi Faisal,

Thanks for your kind words about our site.

When you are serving in singles the ball can go from anywhere on your die to anywhere on the other side.  Only in doubles you have to serve diagonally and then only form the right side.  In doubles you never serve form the left side.

Tae a look at the lesson we have on The Most Important Rules.  It will help you out.

#26 - Serving with Placement

Just by placing your serve better, you'll be able to win more points. Think about what happens when a good server plays you. What positions do they serve to that you find difficult. Try serving to similar positions yourself. We give you plenty of time to practice serving with placement in this week's training session.
