Hi Todd,

The idea behind getting spin of any kind is to brush the ball on impact.  By brushing the ball you get the ball to start turning around. The idea then is to make the contact faster so that the ball turns around faster.

If you get a chance, purchase Serving Secrets Revealed DVD.  This will help you significantly with all of your serving.

Regarding your serving, you are not allowed to hide your serves now.  It is against the rules now.  So your opponent must be able to see the ball all the way through the serve.

If you can't get much power on your backhand try relaxing your wrist and letting it follow through all the way.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
