what is a drill for serving short with spin its difficult for me to do the same as to avoid an attacking opponent on long serves and also tell me what kind of long serve should be used in a tournament to avoid a topspin hit on it my serve is underspin sidespin long which is countered badly by a forehand topspin hit at any side of the table so is there a need of changing my serve or changing my tactics?

Hi Haseeb,

Work on your short serve by getting a bag of bats and practicing your serves by yourself initially.  Don't worry if you are arvin a fault or serving long but just do some serves with spin.  Focus on brushing the ball finely but maintain the speed on your racket.

Once you are able to serve short your long spin serve will also become more effective because your opponent won't be waiting for the long serve all the time.

The Kicker Serve

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.
