I bought your Serving secrets Revealed DVD last week, and I have  a question regarding the serve placement. The 2 areas you show as the bad areas to serve: do you mean that the first rebound should not be in those 2 areas?

Great DVD, if will definitely help me improve!

Hi Pat,

The first bounce on yuor opponents side shouldn't be in those bad areas.  When the ball bounces there it will allow your opponent to make an attacking stroke without too much effort.

Thanks for your kind words about the DVD.  It is always nice to know that we can help.

I also have a question to ask about serving on your DVD

I've been practising that serve that you show on Serving Secrets Revealed and no matter how many times I try to keep it close to the net I just can't seem to get it right. I thought that it was Due to me doing the technique wrong, but every time I look at how you do it and I do it I can't see any differences.

Is it just because I haven't practiced enough or is it just my bat?

And if it is me, can you give me some advice that will improve my serves?

Piers, you are probably going to be a bit more specific on which serve you are having trouble with to get any really helpful feedback.  However, some common things that can affect your serve even if you strike the ball the same, stand the same, etc, is your contact point.  Make sure you get it nice and low so that you can keep the ball as low as possible for the entire serve.

Hope that helps.
