Strokes

Hi coach

Today I discovered two great problems in my game:

1.when an opponent makes a sidespin serve, how can I recognize if it is side/top,side/chop or pure sidespin,if I am unable to see the bat movement because of my bad eyes and how can I deal with these serves both short and long?

2.many players I know train smashing low balls.

How can i counter these fast shots without spin with my longpips?

Thanks

DK

Hi DK,

First make sure you are watching the ball to the best of you ability.  Even if your eyes aren’t as good work to watch the ball well.  This will make sure you are playing closer to your potential.

When players play a flat fast ball to you, you need to chop more forward on the ball to get it over the net as there isn’t the topspin to lift the ball over naturally.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.

Thanks a lot.

But how can I recognize that three variations?

In my eyes they look the same (both ball and bat movement).

Even more forward? :OO

Even without it my balls go always very high and vertical :O
I am confused
