"Seemiller" grip

Strokes

Hi,

I learned to play in the late 60's and thru the 70's.  I didn't play for many years, and have recently been playing for the last year and a half, 3-4 times/week.

My Dad taught me to hold the racket (and he was never very good :-) ) but I stuck with it.

I learned it was the "Seemiller" grip.

My question:  Do you find any people using this grip?  Should I make an effort to change?

I have tried shakehand grip, and have no control of the racket.  I am an average player (~ 1600 USATT rating), and really enjoy playing.  The only limitation I find with the grip is limited reach on the backhand.  But I have a great backhand block, and am getting better on the forehand block (I am left handed).

Hi Steve,

I would stay with the grip.  It is a viable grip that some very good players have been able to use.

There are limitations as you have found but I think the change would be a very long process.
