Dear Coach, I am facing problem with opponent's pimple bat service. If i push the ball slowly it is going down the net and if i drive the ball it is going outside. Kindly advise me how i have return the service made with pimple bat.
Hi Gopi,
Treat it like a no spin ball without much speed on it. It will probably come through a little slower than you are expecting.
If you can get into a good position, make a topspin return. Make sure you are getting enough topspin on the return to get the ball to dip onto the table. You are probably not generating enough topspin at the moment and that is why the ball is going off the end.
If the ball is shorter, then push the ball back but again remembering that the serve will have no spin.
The pendulum and reverse pendulum serves are two of the most commonly used and deceptive serves in table tennis. In this video, we’ll break down the key differences between these serves and discuss strategies for returning them effectively. You’ll learn the basic principles of serve return, including how to read spin, adjust your positioning, and respond confidently to different variations of these tricky serves. Thank you dear Alois for giving me immediate reply regarding 'problem with pimple rocket's serve'. I am astonished to receive such a bounce back reply/ answer from you. It establishes the fact that how much you love the game of Table Tennis.
Dear Alois, please guide me regarding 'pushing'. My pushing action is not correct bcoz when i push the ball it is going slightly up and it is easy to my opponent to smash the ball. How i have to hold the rocket? I am playing with a rocket having one side 'Magna' rubber and another side 'Yasaka V stage' rubber.
And one more question, in the shakehand grip whether we have to hold rocket closer to the rubbers or far?
Awaiting for your valuable reply,
(GOPI PAJJURI)
Hold the racket like we show you in the lesson on Get a Grip. Keep a similar grip for all shots.
If the push is going too high, focus on brushing the ball more on contact. Take a look at our lesson on the Backhand Push.
