Strokes

Hi Alois and Jeff,

I'm an intermediate penhold grip player that has been training formally for almost a year, and I felt like tackling the RPB after watching a few matches online for the WTTC and seeing it used by some top penhold players. At first I try to practice it, the stroke would either get too much topspin and doesn't get over the net or it will just fly off the side of the table. Are there any step-by-step drills you would suggest to get better at this type of stroke?

Thanks.

Hi Wilson,

It is important to get the basics of the stroke correct.  Like any stroke you need to have a good start and finish position.

Take a look at our PingSkills lesson on the Penhold Techniques for Table Tennis on Youtube. In it we show the correct technique for the stroke.

I think one of the keys is getting the angle of your bat correct at the start but watch the lesson and see if you can improve the stroke.
