Serving
Hi again!

Have you seen people serve like this? Are there any potential downsides to it? I find it somewhat easier to play short with a lot of brush than a normal backhand serve. Also people just stare at you like "what the hell did you just do?" if you start off with a really long and fast serve like that :-)
Hi Johan,
Yes this is a good way of serving for some players. I find it easy to generate more spin with a relaxed wrist doing it this way.
Keep developing it if you can.
The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.

But it is spinless
My opponents throw it up ,they think it is a chop
I saw a young player use this yesterday for the first time. It was something that he thought of himself and it came really naturally to him.
