Hi coaches,

i usually use a drop shot return against short/half long serves and when i feel like it a topspin too. but against long serves, im rendered useless because of my bh's ineffectiveness... this applies to any long short/half long but fast serves too.  i cant push these short and my opponents finish the point.

What options do i have to return these serves? also how to return a long fast serve? and do u have any tips as to how i can bring my bh topspin up to mark (my coach suggested i learn a new stroke.)

thanks!

Hi Shripathi,

If the ball is long you should not try to make a short push.  This is too difficult to do.  Make a topspin off this sort of serve.  You should make sure your backhand topspin stroke has the right basics.  Take a look at the lesson we have on our Lessons page on the Backhand topspin.  Just keep working on this stroke and eventually you will get it right.

i have a problome too on returning this serve especially if the serve is very fast and low so it's hard to topspin it
sometimes, the long, fast and low ball is wide and it's harder to returning it
so can you please tell me how to do it ? thank you very much ^^ I like that video :D
