Hi Alois,

As mentioned by you in your lessons, a flick shot is a mini-smash. Mostly players who execute this shot tend to place it on the far right or far left corner of the table. Some times, the spin of the serve is also returned in the flick shot.

I was wondering that if my opponent executes a flick shot then what should be my response (I am a left hander) and how effectively I can return it? Additionally, how to return a flick shot in a doubles match if the opponent returns a serve with a flick shot?

Regards,

Mudit

Hi Mudit,

The key to returning a flick shot is to lift the ball more than oyu would first expect.  The ball comes through flat and fast off a flick so will not have much topspin on it.  The speed of the shot also makes the ball feel heavier.  That is why you need to spin the ball more upwards to lift it over the net.

Wait a little longer if you can and play a topspin like you are playing topspin against backspin.

Hi Ishaan,

It sounds like  similar shot.  As long as you are lifting the ball with some topspin.
