Strokes
So almost everytime I serve the opponent return the ball with a chop, which is quite normal but when the ball comes to my backhand I end up having to return it with a chop. If i try to return it with a backhand stroke the ball often ends up in the net or outside the table. When the opponent returns the ball with a chop I have difficulty finding a way to return the ball with a backhand stoke as the feel is different from when the opponent return it with a backhand stroke. I don't have that problem on my forehand Also what would you consider the best return against a chop apart from the backhand stroke? Thanks
Hi Andy,
Take a look at our lesson on the Backhand Topspin Off Backspin. This is the shot you should work on. It is a matter of getting a more vertical stroke on the backhand to lift the ball with topspin.
The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.

Hi Andy,
As long as it only bounces once on the table you can play this stroke. The lifting action enables you to lift even low balls.
