Hi Pingskills When I play against my dad (a blocker), i will hit a good shot, and, before I know it, the ball is back at my end. I can return this, but I haven't got time to play a nice shot., because I have only just finished the previous stroke. Any ideas about how I can recover between shots quicker? PS. I play close to the table Thanks!

Hi Will,

The ore important thing is to only play a strong ball when you are in a good position to play the ball fast and recover for the next ball.  One of the best tactics against a blocker is to vary the speed and spin rather than trying to hit the ball hard all the time.  They actually like the speed because they can use it against you.

Take a look at our lesson in our Match Strategy course on Playing A Blocker.  This will give you some more tips.

Ok thanks Alois Is it also a good idea to move them around the table (hit left, right, short, deep etc) and force the weak return?
