Recognize sidespin or backspin on your serve

During a game I tried to do tomahawk  serve by giving  the  racket direction direction . I figured out that sometimes the ball was going to the net and outside the table . please tell me that how to recognize that I have added sidespin and backspin to the ball . Please also tell that how could I add more spin t othe ball .

Hi Sonia,

Watch the ball after it bounces on the other side of the table.  Watch it until it stops and see the path it takes.  If it comes back or stops then it has backspin and if it curves to the side wall or forward then it has more sidespin than backspin.
