Can the receiver move past the table while the server is in the midst of serving?

Yes, the receiver can move past the table during the serve in table tennis. There are no specific rules restricting the position or movement of the receiver, as long as they do not physically interfere with the server's ability to play the ball. This means the receiver can position themselves as they see fit and can move around freely, including moving past the table, to anticipate and respond to the serve.

However, it's important for the receiver to be ready and in a good position to react to the serve. Moving too much or being out of position could disadvantage the receiver by not being prepared to return effectively.
