Receive a rollspin in forehand

Hey coach!!

There is a big problem for receive a long and short rollspin balls in forehand....

According to you what should i do?

Hi Tanay,

By rollspin do you mean a slow ball that comes low with some topspin?

To play against this sort of ball you need to have patience and wait for the ball and then play a topspin stroke against it.  You need to move into the stroke because this sort of ball doesn't have much speed of its own so you need to generate the speed.

rollspin means a ball with both sidespin and a bit topspin..

OK, so for this stroke you need to adjust the angle of your racket to allow for the sidespin.  If it is moving away from your forehand, you need to bend your wrist back to allow for the sidespin on the ball.  If it is moving into your forehand you need to come forward on it and angle your bat in towards you more to counter the spin.  One thing that is important when playing against this type of ball is to move forward with your stroke.  This is because the ball is moving sideways so it is a little more difficult to make contact with the ball.
