Ready Position for receiving serves

Footwork

Hello,

After watching the 'Ready Position' video that you guys have up I had some questions. It makes sense to be able to reach the whole table with one step footwork, but why do a lot of good players choose to receive from the extreme backhand?

What footwork is necessary to cover the whole table for those players that stand in the extreme backhand corner?

 thanks.

Hi Jeffrey,

They tend to stand all the way over on their backhand if they have a very forehand oriented game.  Also if the server is serving from wide on their backhand corner the angle would tend to be more to their backhand corner.

The footwork needed for this is the same as other footwork, just faster to be able to cover a bigger distance.

Stop Coming Back to Ready Position! Do This Instead…

Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:

✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
