Hi i was wondering how to perform a long push but not just a soft long push i am looking for a strong long push in order that the next ball i can top spin the ball, i have been looking to anothers players and i saw that they put the racket in a vertical position and give a kind of push but more like a little hit but enough that ball go long and with enough amount of backspin and when the other player push or cut the ball it goes long and it is always perfect for a topspin, so i would like to make that stroke the push or the slice long with backspin. Thanks.

Hi Luis,

To be able ot ush long you also ned to think about it being fast so that the other player doesn't have time to be able to topspin the ball at you.

To do this you need to lay your bat back, and then just speed up your push stroke by increasing the speed of your racket through the contact of the ball.

Make sure you are brushing the ball as well on contact to get spin on the ball.

The key to a good long push is surprise and speed.  Without these two factors yo will set up an opportunity for your opponent instead of yourself.

Relaxation: The Secret to More Power

In this video we show you a simple trick to improve your strokes by making them more economical. You'll notice increased power for less effort.
