Hi coach alois, i am a left handed shakehand grip player. i used to serve pendulum side spin from the right side of my table but my oppnents used to recieve and spin my service towards my backhand side. This always lose me a point cause their spin were very spinny and i cant see the ball direction to block. Can you please give me advice where is the best position after service to prevent my opponents to attack or be able to catch their return wherever they will return my serves.

Hi Edward,

Try just changing the direction a little first.  Serve the ball more down the line to their backhand.  This will make it more difficult for them to hit it to your backhand side.  The other important thing is to be able to get the ball to bounce twice on their side.  You need to get the ball close to the on the first bounce on their side.  This will make it harder for them to attack the ball back to you.  If they push, then you have the chance to make the first attack.  This will change the whole game.

After the serve then position yourself relative you where you have serves to.  If you have served more to their backhand, then you can position yourself more to  your forehand side which will be across court and vice versa.  Take a look at our lesson on the Ready Position which will show you what I am talking about.
