Strokes
Hi there coach, I got some problems on attacking in a rally. I was not able to play table tennis for one month so it looks like everything is new to me. But the problem I'm concerned the most is my forehand attack. During a rally, when the ball comes long, I am not able to perform the topspin stroke like I used to do before. Is there anything I can do to boost my confidence in attacking and to get my stroke in shape like it used to be?
Hi Wayne,
It is just about getting back into hitting a bit more. Start by doing the stroke slowly in training and then build up as you develop your confidence. It will soon come back.
This is a common situation. Often when we start again, we think it can be perfect straight away or we may even have a blurred memory of what we were doing before the break.
Just give it time.

Whether you’re just learning or looking to tidy up your technique, this is a great place to start.

Hi coach i have a problem on attacking with spin, when i try hit the ball.. always net how to improve that coach?
Hi JohnDavid,
See if you can slow the stroke down a little for training. If the ball is always going into the net, try having a more vertical stroke. This will lift the ball over the net. The other thing to check is your rubber. If it has lost its grip then it will be difficult to lift the ball over the net.
