Hello,

I recently found a great table tennis coach in my area and take lessons once a week. I really want to become better and your videos have helped more than anything. I want to practice at home however, but it is hard by myself. I tried having a family member help yesterday with some multiball practice like you guys do in your videos. How do you teach someone to hit balls back and forth continuously like that?

Thanks!

Hi Cam,

It is great you are working with a coach.

At home the multi ball can really help.

A few pointers for feeding multi-ball.

  • Only hold a few balls in your hand at a time to start with.
  • Bounce the ball in front of you and then hit it while it is still quite low.
  • Hit the ball in an even rhythm.
  • Hit the ball when the other ball is just bouncing on the table.

It will take a little bit of practice but it is worth the effort.  It is a great way to train if you don't have a training partner.

#15 - Using Depth

In this session we talk about the length of your placement. Often we think that we need to always hit the ball deeper and faster however sometimes playing a shorter ball during a rally can catch your opponent off guard. If this happens to you, you need to ensure you are able to move forward and deal with the shorter ball.
