How far from the table should I be positioned? I'm told that I'm too far from the table but the problem is that when I'm near the table I do not have time to play strokes well so a lot of mistakes so I go back 1 meter and I do less mistakes that allows me to position myself well and to make my strokes which gives me a winning shot.

Salut alain

Hi Alain,

If you are more successful 1 meter back from the table then you should utilise that position.  Each player has their optimal position for themselves.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
