Playing with back spin on Backhand from opponent

Strategy

Hi Alois,

I play with one particular opponent player who's game is only driving Back spin on the ball. I have observed that out of 10 returns he will take 7 or 8 on his backhand (Even though the ball is on Forehand) and the racket touch is typically below the ball with friction. Since he knows that I am an attacking player on forehand, and my backhand weak on drive & counter, most of the time he puts a ball on my backhand which I am unable to hit hard and since there is a back spin on the ball i am left with only push option. This puts me in defensive position.

Can you please guide me as to what strategy i may use to win this game. Also, how do I improve my back hand to make my game aggressive.

Many Thanks,

Rohan

Hi Rohan,

I think that ultimately you need to work on the Backhand Topspin Off Backspin stroke.  This is what will give you the advantage in these rallies.

As a strategy, try to play more balls to his forehand side so that the angle of the rally starts to be more on your forehand diagonal.  Serve the ball more to that side and aim your return there as well.

Move him around as well since he doesn't like to play with his forehand play wide to his forehand side to make him really move over there.  If he plays it with his backhand he will be leaving his backhand side wide open.  If he plays it with his forehand it is his weaker shot.
