Playing Style Issue

Strokes

I started playing table tennis about 1.5 years ago. At the begining, by looking at the other players i started playing a lot of chop shots. As a result of which now my playing style has become totally based on chops which makes it impossible for me to play proper forehand shots or hit a forehand smash or even do a top-spin serve.  How can I change my playing style so that I am able to play forehand instead of just chops. I really appreciate the advise as this style is causing problems for me.

I use the model Timo Ball 1000.

Hi Muhammad,

I would go back and work on the Forehand CounterhitBackhand Counterhit and then the Forehand Topspin Against Block and Backhand Topspin Against Block.  You need to develop confidence in the attacking strokes first and then start to introduce them into some game play.

It will take a while to get the feel and confidence in the strokes but if you persevere you will be able to change your game and play more of an attacking style.

Stop Coming Back to Ready Position! Do This Instead…

Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:

✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies

Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
