Playing better with a cheaper bat

Hi Alois,

I after playing table tennis for coming up to half a year, I have realised that I seem to play better with a cheaper bat.

By cheaper I mean a £5 Dunlop cheaper, compared to my Palio Master (technically a premade bat as it has a Palio C12 blade with CJ8000 rubbers).

I don't understand it but I play better (and prefer playing) with the Dunlop one.

Any suggestions on why and whether I should try to use the Palio more

Thanks,

Sam

Hi Sam,

It may just be that you get a better feeling from the cheaper bat.  I think this is quite common. Move on to the better bat as this will allow you to develop your strokes and game more.  It will feel worse to start with but in the end you will become a better player.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Interesting question, Sam how long have you been playing with the Dunlop compared to the Palio Master?
