Alois,

I was playing friendly against an opponent with regular smooth rubbers on both side of his paddle. My paddle has LP OX and 0.05 smooth on the other side. First game, my score was 11 to 4. He checked my paddle and changed his paddle to a anti spin one side and the other side is smooth paddle. I lost the next two games 6 to 11 and 8 to 11. My question is to you how do I play him.

Thank you for your response.

Rodrigo

Hi Rodrigo,

To play against anti-spin you need to understand the effect of the rubber.  It is a dead rubber that will reverse the spin on the ball.

A simple tactic is to push the ball to the anti spin and then the ball will come back to you with topspin.  That is the ball you can attack.

The other issue is that he should not change rackets in the middle of a match.  This is not allowed.  You are only allowed to change rackets if you break the first one accidentally.

Alois,

An addition to my original question. My LP Ox  rubber against Anti spin rubber.

This is the scenario: I chop push serve my with LP OX.

He top spin with his anti spin.

Now the ball is back spinning toward me. Is this correct?

What about if he chop it?

Does ball  return to me back spinning?

Thanks for your help,

Rodrigo

Thanks,

Rodrigo

Hi Rodrigo,

The topspin stroke return will come back to you very flat.  It will feel like backspin.

The push return will come back with a bit of topspin but again it will be quite flat but because of the image of him pushing it will feel like topspin.

I thought the anti spin has no spin, and the reversing spin rubber is called long pimpled rubber

Hi Peter,

Anti spin works in a very similar way to long pimples and reverses spin as well.
