I play against a slammer with good backspin. He's also good at using backspin close to the table. I can attack against backspin quite well but sometimes I miss. What would be the best way to play?

Hi Steven,

You should try to keep the ball short to start with and wait till he gives you a long ball to make a topspin.  You should practice this stroke a lot as it is a vital stroke in Table Tennis.

The main focus needs to be on getting the first attack since he has a good attacking stroke.

Take a look again at the lesson on the Forehand Loop Off Backspin.  This may give you some tips on improving the stroke.
