What makes a good table tennis player?
Hi Callum,
There are many factors but I think the most important one is how well and how much they train. It is almost impossible to reach the top level if you haven't spent at least 10 years training regularly.
This will come from having a passion for the game. So with out this passion you will not spend the time training. In general it is better to start at a young age when it is easier to learn new skills.
Does anyone have any other opinions about the critical factors?
Most players warm up by hitting forehand to forehand, then backhand to backhand—but is that really the best way to get match ready?
In this video, we reveal a more effective approach to your on-table warm-up that helps you prepare faster and more realistically for actual gameplay. It might not feel as smooth at first, but it will get you sharper, quicker.
Try this new method and let us know how it works for you!

Training = 99%
Talent = 1%
So to be a "GOOD" player training will get you there.
To be a "GREAT" player (ie world class) you need to train & select your parents carefully.
