Hey Alois,

The new 40+ ball is available in two categories that is seamed and seamless. Do you feel or experience any change or variation between them?

Secondly, the plastic ball is a little heavy, bigger and bounces a little low compared to the celluloid ball. I started practicing with plastic ball so I can play with the new ball in upcoming tournaments. I was so unhappy after I played terrible. Can you suggest some points to keep in mind while playing with the ball? I even realised that many people are unhappy and get thrown while participating in tournaments.

Hi Siddharth,

It is a matter of getting used to the slight differences.  This will only come with more play with the plastic balls.  I don’t have enough experience with playing with the seamed and seamless so perhaps others can comment.

According to my club mates seamless balls are fundamentally better.

I played with plastic balls and yes there is some difference, like there is some difference between bats. The important thing though is not to pay too much attention to it.

As long as you are still improving yourself and are not part of the top 5% let's say of your country, you should work on technique and not adapt your technique specifically to the ball. That's really something for very high level players to focus on. They have close to perfect technique already.

Players of mid or lower level who complain about the plastic ball are just looking for an excuse. It's really not such a big deal.
