Hi David,

Try to get the ball on the forehand diagonal early in the rally.  Start by serving to their forehand area or receiving their serve to their forehand.  This will mean there is more chance that it will come back to your forehand area.

In the long term you need to think about improving your backhand technique so that this isn;t a problem any more.

Tactics Against A Defensive Chopper

A chopper likes to get back from the table and get into a nice rhythm. If you keep the defender close to the table in the early part of the rally, it's hard for them to transition back into their chopping position. So keep the ball short on your serve and try and catch them unprepared. Watch the video to find out more great tactics to use against a defensive chopper.

Hi,

This might also be an alternative. But if the opponent is a good blocker, he will find an open table to play.
