Hi Alois,

Is there any difference in the technique for a forehand smash using the penhold grip rather than the shake hand grip?

PS. Pingskills have helped me greatly and have allowed me to improve dramatically through developing my technique. Thank you Alois and Jeff.

No difference. The principles are the same.
