Strokes
Hi Alois,
I was wondering how to do a backhand chop as a pen holder? Is there a difference between the technique for shake hand and penhold?
Thanks
Hi Kabeer,
The basis are the same. You can either use the front side or the reverse side to make contact.
The leg, start and finish positions remain the same, it is a matter of getting the racket into a good position to make the stroke, which can be more awkward with the penholder grip. That is one of the reasons there are not many penholder choppers.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
