Strokes
Hello Alois! I'm a penholder player who plays with penhold for 5 months. But before experiencing the penhold I played like 8 months with the shakehand. And my coach said I'm playing much better with the penhold grip. But there is a one problem. My coach doesn't know about the penhold grip. And I can't learn anything about the game. The other players use shakehand and my coach can teach them really well. And I'm really sorry for being a bad student. What should I do?
Hi Tarik,
If you enjoy and feel comfortable with the penhold then stay with it.
The basics of most strokes are very similar between shakehand and penhold. The main difference is the backhand. We have this tutorial on Penhold Techniques for Table Tennis that will also help you.
