Serving
i want to know if it's possible to make a pendulum sidespin serve not to curve that much but still with sidespin by getting the ball with more forward momentum.it would be hard to read the spin.if i use more of my arm, will it work? sorry for this crazy questions. I'm just curious.hahaha.
Hi Rodney,
The more speed you have on the ball the less it will curve, even though it may have a lot of sidespin. This is because the forward momentum takes the ball straight on rather than allowing the sidespin to take effect on the first bounce.
The only issue is that the serve will tend to be long in this case and so you are leaving yourself open to be attacked if the receiver is ready for this.

- Wide Serves: Understand the tactical advantage of serving wide and how it can open up the table for your next shot.

- The Crossover Point: How to target the elusive crossover point (the transition between forehand and backhand) to force errors or weak returns.
