Pendulum Serve Hit Point

After reviewing your video on Pendulum serve, it appears to me that a right hander is tossing the ball into themselves, hitting the ball just above their right hip, about 6 inches away. I think I have been chasing the ball, too high and in front of me. Also, for underspin, is your follow thru carving under and in front of the ball?

Hi Lance,

Yes the contact is near your hip where you can get better control and utilise your wrist better.

For the backspin brush right at the base of the ball.  Have a straight line with your swing and keep your wrist relaxed to get maximum spin.

The Kicker Serve

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.
