Pendulum Serve Grip

Serving

Hello Alois, Hello Jeff

I really like to do the pendulum serve while holding my fingertips on the handle. I thought it was just my secret weapon, but on the 97# Show You talk about exactly that. So on one hand im dissapointed that my "secret weapon" is not secret, on the other hand im happy that its approved by you.

I always had problems to do the reverse pendulum serve. Recently i discovered that its child easy to do it if i curl my fingers under the bat and hold it just with the thumb and forefinger (the usual grip for the pendulum serve Alois shows all the time)

Now i have a dilemma.

My pendulum is more effective and stable if i have the fingertips on the handle and i actually dont want to change it, but the reverse pendulum with the fingers curled behind the bat works very good. The opponent will see just looking at my fingers if im going to serve normal or reverse.

Any Help?

Hi Marcin,

Firstly well done on developing those two serves.

It is not that bad that your opponent can tell which one you are doing, however, see if you can find a compromise between the two that you can use for both.  This will mean a little less reaction time for you opponent.  You may even be able to change the grip during the action.

Good luck with your secret weapon!
