On one of my paddles the rubbers are old. I would like to get new rubbers. Right now on one side is Butterfly Tackifire and on the other is Yasaka Mark V M2. What I am looking for are rubbers that will generate more spin and speed. Any suggestions?

Hi Frank,

For more spin and speed than your old Tackifire and Mark V M2, consider these rubbers:

Forehand (attack & spin focus):

  • Butterfly Tenergy 05 or Dignics 09c

  • Xiom Omega VII Pro

  • Yasaka Rakza Z

Backhand (control + spin):

  • Xiom Vega Europe

  • Butterfly Rozena

Balanced combo example:

  • FH: Tenergy 05 / Omega VII Pro

  • BH: Rozena / Vega Europe

These upgrades give heavier topspin, more speed, and better overall control. Start slowly, as new rubbers feel very different from old ones. Use thin, water‑based glue for best performance.

Would it be better to change the rubbers or buy a new paddle (thinking of the Stiga Pro Carbon paddle)?

Depends on what is your current blade and also what is your preferred style

Not really sure, it is definitely a Stiga blade. All it says on it is all around wood. I the paddle about 40 or more years ago

Further to the above, I have a Joola Infinity Overdrive paddle that is a year old. The rubber on part of top is broken. Not very much though.

There are multiple Stiga Allround blades.
However this is a series suitable for beginners.
Thus it should pair well with pretty much any rubber.

Another thing is that blades dont age if cared about well.
Unless the blade itself is visibly damaged,it is completely OK to use.

Joola Infinity Overdrive is a strong offensive blade.
It is a carbon/kevlar blade and can be easily on par if not faster than Stiga Pro Carbon.

My personal view is that you should try playing with the current blades for a few months to explore what they can do,before buying any new.
Damaged rubber can be taken off.
If the blade itself is OK,there is no issue.
