One Serve Different Variation

Serving

Hi Alois and Jeff,

I asked you about my serve and I got a positive response.

But when I asked the same question from my club coach he said that why I am using many serves I just have to practice two serve one from FH and other from BH and he also said I should be able to serve in these types. For example Sidespin serve

  1. Short Sidespin
  2. Long Sidespin
  3. Long and Fast Sidespin
  4. Reverse Sidespin

Like International players same serve in different types.

Is this really work in game or I should depend on my all previous serves?

Hi Tushar,

at first it is good to develop a wide range of serves to see what suits you.

However, your coach is right.  Eventually you should just pick  couple of serves that you can do well and use these with variations as you described.  This will mean that you will be more used to the return that will come back after the serve.

It really doesn’t matter which one you use.
