Missing the ball on serve

When you serve if you didn't hit the ball with your bat, what happens.

Hi Ivan,
As soon as the ball goes off your hand it is in play so if you miss the ball you lose the point.

Side of Table
If the ball hits any part of the top of the table then the ball is in play. If it only hits the side of the table then it is out.
