Hi, Alois and Jeff,

I am wondering how much difference there is between the best men players and the best women players.  It's clear that the women would be overpowered by the men, but I wonder how their skills match up otherwise.  For example, it seems that the women are a little quicker and may have a more complete game.  It would be very interesting to hear you discuss this on the show.

Here are a few specific questions that come to mind:

How many points would the top women get against the top men in a typical game?

How many points would either of you get against the top women?

What would be the highest world ranking that the top woman player could achieve in the men's rankings?

Can the women serve and/or receive as well as the men, since power is not part of those shots?

If both players were prevented from hitting topspin loops, taking away the power advantage, would the women be able to compete?

I hope that you will take up this topic at some point, although I understand it may be a little tricky to be politically correct.

Thanks

Hi Marv,

We will discuss this the Ask the Coach Show #128 tonight.  I think the top women would only rank around 250 in the Men’s rankings.  That is just a guess at this stage.  Will discuss more.
