Strokes
Hi PingSkills,
I was wondering what kind of shot I should esecute when dealing with high balls that bounce near to the end of the table (by high ball, I mean those that bounce about eye height - around 5'5" - basically in my opinion not quite plain smashing height where I can simply hit the ball down with force). I have found that I often hit the ball out or ocassionally into the net when I just swing my arm at it. Please could you recommend whether I should do a flat hit for this shot or should I close my bat and brush the top of the ball (hope I'm making a bit of sense!).
Thanks,
Tim
Hi Timothy,
This can be an awkward ball to play. I think it is best to make a topspin unless you are in a good position and balanced to make a smash. You can smash this ball because it is high enough to smash but it often doesn't give you enough time to get around and into position to make the shot.
