hi alois,

i have been playing table tennis for almost a year, and i found the video's in this site very helpful.

i have a problem in making powerfull shots after i learned how to put top spin effectively. After playing with topspin for about a month, my shots seem to be weaker and slower.(automatically appyling topspin)

Now when i try making powerful shots without any spin, i miss the table.

can you please suggest how i can resolve this problem? and how i can make more powerful shots?

thank you

Hi Caine,

Keep the same stroke as you have been learning with the topspin.  Now just think about moving your bat through that stroke a little faster.  The important thing is that the stroke must remain the same from start to finish.

As long as you are doing the topspin stroke correctly, you will find that you will be able tohit the ball as fast as you want and the ball will still go on the table because of the topspin you are generating.

Your main error at the moment is that you are trying to hit your powerful shots without any spin.  The topspin is the key to getting the ball to dip and land on the table.

You also have to focus on your shot selection.  Only hit a flat ball when the ball bounces into or you move to make the ball in your strike zone and significantly above the net.
