Hi Neul,

Take a look at the questions we have on the Par Gerrell serve which is also called the Punch serve. This video response will help. What type of serve is Par Gerell doing?

You can do topspin or backspin, all will have sidespin.

Looks like a nice serve to try; Is it possible to generate much spin with the punch serve?

Not as much as some other serves Johnny because you don’t use your wrist much.

Nowhere is said that you cannot
I started to use this serve too,and I use it with pendulum grip, enabling full wrist use

It's pretty easy to add some wrist by adding a slight motion as per the reverse pendulum. If you hide your paddle properly behind you until the last moment, it'll be quite hard to notice fast enough
