How do I execute the flick @ 10:00 min in the video? Is this exclusive to penholders? Is it practical? How should I serve to get the opportunity to use this stroke?

Hi Mikey,

This is almost a flick smash.  You can do it with shakehand as well.  You see he is getting up high so that he can use his wrist fully with the penhold grip.  You can do this with your racket more side on as well.  It is a flick like we show you in the lesson on the Forehand Flick but you are using your wrist faster and more fully.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
